Subscriptions and the response inbox

Control which issue and timeline conversations appear in your inbox.

Outcome

Keep the response inbox focused on work you own or intentionally follow.

How inbox routing works

  • Open conversations appear when you subscribe to their issue or timeline.
  • A direct @mention appears even when you are not subscribed.
  • Creating an issue or timeline subscribes you automatically. You can unsubscribe afterward.
  • Replying to a mentioned thread clears that mention from your inbox. You can also dismiss it without replying.
  • Subscriptions are separate from email notification preferences.

Subscribe from a resource

  1. Open an issue or timeline.
  2. Choose Subscribe to add its open conversations to your inbox.
  3. Choose the subscriber count to manage other internal organization members.
  4. For a private timeline, give a member timeline access before subscribing them.

Manage subscriptions at scale

  1. Open Settings > Subscriptions.
  2. Use My subscriptions to review your inbox sources.
  3. Use Team subscriptions to find any subscribed issue or timeline in the organization.
  4. Search, open the subscriber manager, and add or remove internal members.

Removing a subscription only changes future inbox routing. It does not delete comments, issues, timelines, or notification history.
